About us

BeltBags is based in Woodstock, Cape Town and has been designing leather and canvas belt bags since 2012. We make practical carry options for festivals, travel and everyday use, with style choices that suit South African life on the move.

How BeltBags Started in Woodstock

BeltBags began in 2012 with a simple idea: make a belt bag that is comfortable to wear, neat in shape, and useful from morning to night. Our base in Woodstock keeps us close to the pace of Cape Town, where people need carry options that work for walking, commuting, markets, music events, weekend trips and long days out in the city. From the start, the focus was on honest materials and careful making, not throwaway fashion.

What started as a small local range has grown into a service that ships across South Africa, including Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria and Gqeberha, as well as nearby areas like Stellenbosch and Somerset West. We design for people who want something hands free, light to wear, and strong enough for daily use. A good belt bag should sit well, hold the essentials and still look good with a jacket, dress or casual clothes. That is the standard we work to every day.

What We Make and Why It Matters

Our range includes leather and canvas belt bags in different sizes, colours and finishes. Some customers want a compact bag for a concert or market visit, while others need a little more room for a travel day, a passport, cards, lip balm, keys and a small notebook. We keep the shapes practical so the bag does not bounce around when you are walking, standing in queues or moving through busy places. Small details matter here, because a good bag is the one you stop noticing once it is on.

We choose materials for everyday use in South African conditions. Leather needs care in coastal humidity and canvas must handle dust, sun and repeated wear. That means we pay attention to stitching, zip movement, strap feel and lining strength before a bag goes out. It also means we think about how the bag will hold up when summer heat, load shedding routines and travel delays change the day’s pace.

  • Leather options for a more refined look and longer wear
  • Canvas options for lighter carry and casual use
  • Adjustable straps for better fit across different body types
  • Simple compartments for easy reach to daily items
  • Colour choices that suit festivals, workdays and weekends

The People Behind the Work

BeltBags is led by Luyanda Mbeki, our Managing Director, with a team that covers design, production, customer care, sales and dispatch. Anika van Wyk leads design, Siyabonga Dlamini manages production, Megan Jacobs handles customer care, Tebogo Molefe coordinates sales, and Aphiwe Ndlovu oversees dispatch. Each person has a clear role, which helps us keep orders moving and information accurate from enquiry to delivery.

We work as a tight team because that is how local manufacturing stays dependable. A customer in Pretoria should receive the same careful attention as someone collecting in Cape Town. When a bulk order comes in for a group, event or retail need, the process has to be organised from the start. We check sizing, finishes, quantities and delivery timing before anything leaves the workshop. That level of coordination keeps mistakes down and makes the experience easier for the customer. It also means people know who is handling their order at each step, which matters when deadlines are tight.

How We Help Customers Choose Well

Buying a belt bag should be straightforward, but a little guidance can save time and avoid disappointment. Some people know exactly what they want, while others need help choosing between leather and canvas, a wider strap or a slimmer fit, a travel style or a festival style. We assist through the enquiry form on our contact page and help customers work through the details that matter before they place an order.

Our support covers more than product choice. We can help with strap fit advice, leather care support, canvas care support, zip checks, stitching assessment, order tracking, gift orders, returns guidance, exchange assistance, bulk order help and delivery options. If you are ordering for yourself, a friend or a business group, we try to make the process practical and clear. That way people can choose with confidence instead of guessing from a picture alone.

  • Style Selection Help for colour and design matching
  • Strap Fit Advice for comfort and carry position
  • Leather Care Support and Canvas Care Support for longer use
  • Order Tracking Help so you know where things stand
  • Gift Order Support when you need something ready for giving

Values That Guide Our Day to Day Work

Our work is shaped by a few practical values: good materials, careful workmanship, clear communication and fair service. Those values are not there for show. They affect how we answer queries, how we inspect a bag before dispatch, and how we deal with returns or exchanges when a customer needs help. We prefer direct answers and useful guidance rather than overcomplicated language. If something needs a closer look, we say so and handle it properly.

We also believe in making products that fit real routines. South Africans move between cars, trains, flights, markets, offices, festivals and family visits, often in the same week. A belt bag has to keep up with that. It should be easy to wear, easy to open, and easy to trust. We keep that in mind when selecting colours, checking finishing details and packing orders for delivery. It is a simple approach, but it works.

Serving South African Cities and Coastal Towns

From Woodstock, we ship across the country and regularly serve customers in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria and Gqeberha, along with surrounding places like Stellenbosch and Somerset West. Each area has its own pace and climate. Coastal customers often want materials that are easier to maintain in humidity, while inland buyers may look for a bag that suits hotter, drier conditions and busy commuting. We keep those differences in mind when helping with product choice and care advice.

We also understand the practical side of delivery in South Africa. People want to know when an order will leave, how it will travel, and what to expect if they are sending a gift or placing a bulk order. That is why we pay attention to dispatch details and order tracking. A good service experience is not only about the item itself. It is about getting the item to the right place in good condition, with no fuss and no guessing.

At BeltBags, we are proud to work from Woodstock and to serve customers who want something useful, well made and easy to wear. That is the heart of what we do, and it has stayed the same since the beginning. We are still focused on the same thing: making belt bags that fit real life, not just a trend. It sounds simple, but getting it right takes care, discipline and a steady hand.
